STATEMENT:
My research-based practice utilizes 3D printing, procedural generation, and anthropomorphic forms to produce figurative objects and the environments they inhabit. Following the socialist proclamation of art as a method of inventing the future I make work to push the boundaries of digital modeling and 3D printing to produce objects which could only exist in this era, and reveal the digital systems we collectively inhabit.
I aim to reveal how humans navigate, contribute to, and are impacted by artificial systems. I do this in order to raise awareness of the scale, pervasive nature, and dehumanizing effects of technocratic control as it exists in the present day. By using the tools of algorithmic systems which, at present, authorizes capitalists to exert power over the earth. I wish to expose spectators to radical ideas and promote discontent with the prevailing institutions.
The structure of my installations use steel tubes and joints modeled after the Constructivist goal of occupation of space via volume- in lieu of sheer mass. This methodology allows the sculpture to illuminate, support, and control the entire installation via computers that are inextricably linked to the structure. This allows the sculpture to function as a dynamic transposable system which lessens its environmental impact, as it can be expanded upon or reiterated as necessary for the space it subjugates.
Humans and objects are altered by procedural generation algorithms, which remain hidden, and parallel the systems we inhabit wherein digital systems negate reality.
